Illinois football has the toughest test of the season on Friday, and there are a few big players who can change the game completely.

2. QB Luke Altmyer

Speaking of Luke Altmyer, I think he is easily one of the key players in this game. Illinois vs. Nebraska is going to be a tight matchup, and just a few key plays are going to decide the game.

I think Altmyer could make one of those key plays. That could be bad or good. He has the ability to throw a massive touchdown, or he can throw a backbreaking interception to decide the contest.

With the way Altmyer is playing this season, I think he has a chance to put up some big numbers against the Cornhuskers. While he hasn’t thrown for a great deal of yards this season, Altmyer is a different animal than last year.

Altmyer is a much better quarterback in the pocket. He can feel it when pressure is coming, and he is able to step up and deliver a strike. His poise in the pocket is impressive.

Nebraska is allowing opposing quarterbacks to throw for 196.5 yards per game this season, which ranks No. 58 in the country. They are also allowing quarterbacks to complete 59.1% of their passes this season, which ranks No. 49 in the nation.

If Altmyer can keep playing like he has the first three games of the season, I think he can find success against Nebraska. Altmyer is one of the engines that drives this program.
