The NBA Draft Combine is starting up, and the measurements are in on Illinois guard Kasparas Jakucionis.

Throughout the years, the Illinois basketball team has had some pretty good guard play.

You can go back to the 1980s to find Illini guards like Bruce Douglas and Nick Anderson. The 1990s had Kiwane Garris and Richard Keene. The 2000s had Frank Williams and Dee Brown. The talent has been impressive throughout the decades.

Fast forward to the present day, and you can put Kasparas Jakucionis up there with the best of the best Illinois guards. On Monday, he started to take his journey to an NBA franchise by going through the NBA Draft Combine process.

The measurements were the first step in the NBA Draft Combine. Jakucionis checked in at 6-foot-4.75 barefoot. He also weighed 205.2 pounds and had an 8-foot-4 standing reach.

Jakucionis is about the same weight as the FightingIllini.com website, as they had him at 205 pounds. Illinois did have Jakcuionis much taller, 6-foot-6, than his NBA Draft Combine height of 6-foot-4.75.

Kasparas Jakucionis has a measurement that the NBA scouts will love

Measurements don’t matter that much because it is more of what you do on the floor, but there is one number that really piques my interest with Jakucionis.

The fact that Jakucionis is only 6-foot-4.75 but has a 6-foot-7.75 wingspan is something that will help him a lot with NBA scouts. That means he can play the traditional guard role but has the length to cause problems defensively.

At Illinois, Jakucionis wasn’t polished on the defensive end of the court. That will change in the NBA, though. He is going to have to pick up his defensive prowess quickly, or he will find himself in the G-League.

With that type of length, Jakucionis will be able to lock players down. I think there is a chance he could go even higher with those measurements. If he can perform well at the combine, then there is no doubt that Jakucionis is a top-five pick.
