Illinois received incredible recruiting news over the weekend when four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati committed to the Fighting Illini. Now, head coach Bret Bielema and his staff have taken a step toward landing another massive prospect from the class of 2027.

On Sunday, four-star offensive lineman Cameron Wagner, an Illinois native, announced he had scheduled an unofficial visit with the Illini.

The date for that unofficial visit? Oct. 11, when Illinois is scheduled to host none other than the defending National Champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

When I say Wagner is a massive prospect, I mean it. At just 16 years old, Wagner already weighs in at 300 pounds and stands at an astonishing 6-foot-6... pretty huge for a kid who still has two years of high school football ahead of him.

Wagner is the No. 20 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 7 overall athlete out of the state of Illinois. What better to pair with a four-star quarterback than an offensive lineman of the same caliber?

In MaxPreps' "Names to Know" list ahead of the 2025 season, Wagner was listed as one of the few rising juniors listed for the Great Lakes region. To put it lightly, he has garnered a lot of attention and is only through his high school career.

With great attention comes great offers, or however Uncle Ben phrased it to Spider-Man. Wagner has already received a slew of Division I offers from Power Conference programs, including the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Illinois sent Wagner an official offer on June 12, 2024, more than a year ago and nearly a year and a half before his official visit. The young offensive lineman even attended Illinois's summer camp last year, as well.

Simply put, Wagner has already picked up the traffic of a five-star prospect who is heading into their senior season of high school. So, Bielema getting in an unofficial visit this early is a great sign for the Fighting Illini.
