The women's Illinois basketball program has an embarrassment of riches at their disposal, especially at the point guard position.
Shauna Green and Co. have an absolute superstar in the backcourt with Destiny Jackson leading the way for the Illini, whose performance in 2025-26 led to her being voted to the Big Ten All-Freshman team by the coaches and the media.
Jackson is a different kind of animal for the Orange and Blue and is going to be a pivotal part of Green's roster for the next three years. But at some point, we are going to need to talk about who will replace her when she departs, and we may have found that answer in the class of 2028 guard London Thomas.

One of the top young guards in the state of Florida, the 6’0” standout continues to see her recruitment take off after a strong season.

Thomas, a combo-guard from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, reportedly received an offer from the University of Illinois this past Tuesday. The 6-foot-tall Fort Lauderdale, Florida, product has been putting on a show, averaging 18.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in her sophomore season.
If Thomas were to come to Champaign, it would be during the final year of both Jackson and transfer Divine Bourrage's eligibility. But once they leave, she has plenty of talent to cement herself as the starter of the future.
If you give London Thomas the keys to the Illinois basketball offense, she will take you to the promised land
Thomas is proving to be one of the most dynamic young guards in the country, with a top-notch skill-set both on and off the ball, as well as an elite ability to score at all three levels on the floor.
The No. 47 recruit in the country, according to Prep Girls Hoops, has put together a stellar resumé consisting of a deep offensive bag and the ability to create shots for her teammates with pinpoint passes. Thomas is quickly becoming a recruit who can play anywhere in the backcourt, which will be very helpful in her freshman year.
The best part about Thomas is that she can make a big impact on both ends of the floor. She has shown that she can have sticky hands on the defensive side of the court, leading to her 2.5 steals per game this past season.
Granted, there will be plenty of suitors looking for Thomas to join their program in 2028, but if Illinois can continue to grow at a lightning rate, then they will easily have a program that Thomas can't say no to.
