Illinois basketball is no stranger to recruiting in Kansas, and it looks like they've found another great player in Wichita point guard Jada Davis.
Davis, a sophomore at Wichita East High School, has been climbing the national rankings during the past few months. She ranks No. 14 nationally in ESPN's 2029 SportsCenter NEXT - Terrific 25 rankings and No. 2 in Kansas per Prep Girls Hoops' class of 2029 player rankings.
Last Friday, Davis took to social media to announce that Shauna Green and the Illinois basketball program had extended her a scholarship offer.

The four-star point guard had a stellar start to her high school career, averaging 14.9 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.9 steals through 28 games played. She played a pivotal part in Wichita East's season, leading to a 22-6 overall record and a No. 10 ranking in Kansas.
The Illini become another addition to Davis' long list of offers, which includes Arkansas, Texas State, Iowa State, Iowa, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Miami, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Georgia Tech.

As a sophomore, Davis is already one of the best players in the country. She is entering her second year of high school and already possesses an elite skill set that she can build upon before entering college.
Davis is an elite scorer at the guard position, using her 6-foot-1 frame and downhill attacking style to her advantage against smaller defenders. She is a versatile young guard who can play either the point or the wing when the situation calls for it.

Defensively, Davis' size becomes a major factor, as her rare height and length for a guard make her a legitimate threat on the perimeter. She has been a terror for opponents at Wichita East, leading to Davis recording 3.9 steals per game.
If Green can secure a commitment from Davis, she will have her point guard of the future set for when Destiny Jackson departs. She will have her floor general who, with the right development, has a shot at being a top player in the country in college.
