The final game of the season is on the horizon, and while this is always sad, the Illinois football team has a chance to go out on top.

Entering the Music City Bowl, the Illini have a chance to do something pretty special. We can win nine games in back-to-back seasons for the first time ever. That would be a great achievement.

Tennessee is not an easy team, though. They have talent on both sides of the ball, and Illinois needs to be ready to put points on the board.

Here is the Illinois football vs Tennessee how to watch, series history, and players to watch

  • Illinois football vs Tennessee – How to watch

The season finale for the Illinois football program will be on Tuesday, December 30, at 4:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. ET. It will be in Nashville, Tennessee. Illinois will match up against Tennessee on ESPN. You can also view the game with FuboTV by clicking on this link.

  • Illinois football vs Tennessee – Series history

Usually, there is a history between two teams, but in this case, Illinois has never played football against Tennessee. Both programs have a long history, but they haven’t run into each other. This will be the first matchup to see which orange reigns supreme.

  • Illinois football vs Tennessee – Players to watch

This is going to be an interesting matchup between two teams that have some key parts missing.

Tennessee is heading into the game without leading wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, leading tackler, linebacker Arion Carter, and starting cornerback Colton Hood.

The Volunteers still have starting quarterback Joey Aguilar behind center. Illinois' secondary is weak, and we are without our top pass rusher, Gabe Jacas. This could be a recipe for Aguilar to have a big game.

On the flip side, Illinois’ offense has a chance to have a big game, too. This is Luke Altmyer’s final game with the Orange and Blue, and you better believe he is going to be out there flinging the ball around.

Tennessee has a weak pass defense, giving up 256.7 yards per game through the air. That is bad enough to rank No. 119 in the country, and they will be without a top cornerback. Look for this game to be an absolute shootout.
