Purdue was a nightmare last season for the Illini. They nearly knocked us off in what would have been an embarrassing defeat. Thankfully, Illinois managed to pull out the victory, a feat that should happen again this Saturday.

Illinois and Purdue have a very long history dating back to 1890. I think we all remember watching that first game in November 1890 when Purdue beat Illinois 62-0.

This series has been tight throughout. Illinois is actually down in the series 46-48-6 all-time. Illinois managed to take the last matchup last season, 50-49, in overtime. That broke a four-game winning streak by Purdue.

Since 2003, the Boilermakers are 15-5 against the Illini. Those tides have to turn soon, and Saturday would be a great opportunity for Illinois to win back-to-back games against Purdue for the first time since 2001 and 2002.
