The Illinois football team enters the game on Saturday ranked higher, but that doesn’t mean they are a favorite.

In fact, the Illini enter the contest against Indiana as the underdog. That is where we want this game, though. We want that chip on our shoulder as we go up against a team that made the College Football Playoff last season.

The big question of who will win the game remains. We will find that out on Saturday. But one thing is for certain: it will be a legendary matchup.

Here is the Illinois football vs Indiana Hoosiers betting odds for week four

  • Moneyline: Illinois +170, Indiana -205

It is a big jarring seeing a plus-number next to Illinois’ name. I believe this is the first time the Illini have been underdogs this season.

This is a pretty intriguing bet. You are getting a top 10 team in the country with +170 odds to win the game. That is quality value considering Illinois has won the first three games this season by a combined 135-22.

Meanwhile, Indiana did blow out the last two teams, but in the opening game of the season, they struggled against Old Dominion. The Hoosiers still won the game, but the Monarchs kept it to 27-14.

  • Spread: Illinois +4.5 (-110), Indiana -4.5 (-110)

Illinois is getting some decent points in the game on Saturday. We are entering as moneyline underdogs, and on top of that, the Illini get +4.5 points against Indiana.

This game should be pretty close. I think there will be less scoring than most expect, as both defenses are pretty good. That means we are looking at a fairly narrow margin for whoever wins.

Getting Illinois and 4.5 points is something that intrigues me greatly. If I bet on this game, that is what I would take without a doubt.

  • Total: Over/Under 52.5 points

I think the first few games of the season might have been a mirage for both sides. You have Indiana dropping 156 points through three games, while Illinois is right there at 135 points.

I just don’t see that being the case on Saturday. Both teams have good offenses, but these two defenses will be the biggest test of the season for each program as well.

When push comes to shove, this game is going to be won in the trenches. You aren’t going to see a big scoring outburst. Look for running backs to control the game, as the two quarterbacks will struggle to get things going. Personally, I like the under.
