The Luke Altmyer experience has been a memorable one over the past three seasons, with #9 helping to lead the Illinois football team to two bowl bids during his tenure.

The man has become a bit of a star for the Illini, so much so that his fans have made him the top-selling college football player at The NIL Store this season.

The Starkville, Mississippi, product has been one of the biggest faces on this team since he transferred from Ole Miss in 2023. His leadership and play-making ability have given the Illini the spark they need, as Bret Bielema and company continue to build this program into something special.

Altmyer's play has been very important to the success of this team. In three seasons in Champaign, the senior quarterback has racked up 7,592 yards, 56 TDs, and 21 INTs on a 64.5% completion percentage. As of writing this, Altmyer is fifth in program history in yardage and third in touchdowns.

Luke Altmyer tops the nation when it comes to best-selling merchandise

It has been a successful tenure for Altmyer with the Orange and Blue. Fans love him, and other programs are angry that they don't have him. He has had a pretty stellar time with the Illini, to the point where he's moving more merchandise than any other player in college football.

What a well-deserved recognition for Altmyer, that some people may gloss over when it's all said and done. Illinois' signal caller has moved more clothes than some of the biggest names in college football. The best part? He's reportedly being paid a fraction of what other stars are being paid, with Illinois only spending a reported $5 million last season.

Altmyer will hopefully continue his good fortune this weekend against the 6-5 Northwestern Wildcats, where his team is already a 6.5-point favorite. They certainly will need it after a rough week last week, when they lost to the Wisconsin Badgers 27-10 at Camp Randall Stadium.
