The Illinois football program has produced plenty of great uniforms throughout their 136-year history, ranging from the classic orange helmets of the 1950s and 60s to the 'Block I' of the present day.
The Illini continue to create signature looks, with their 'Navy in NashvILLe' uniform from the 2025 Music City Bowl becoming a fan favorite. It was so popular that the program has announced it will return for Friday's game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

When Illinois first debuted this uniform, it left fans speechless, as it combined a dark modern look with Illinois' classic script lettering. It was something fresh that Illini Nation gravitated towards, and the school will be bringing it back under the lights of Gies Memorial Stadium.
The Illini found great success when they dressed in all navy last season, defeating the Tennessee Volunteers 30-28 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. It was an electric Big Ten vs. SEC showdown, with quarterback Luke Altmyer recording 196 passing yards, 54 rushing yards, and a touchdown both through the air and on the ground.
Illinois football has a chance to continue a major swing after a struggling start to the season
Illinois enters Friday night on a three-game winning streak, headlined by a 21-10 upset win against the Oregon Ducks on October 24. Nebraska, meanwhile, is riding a three-game losing streak, dropping consecutive contests to Indiana, Oregon, and Washington.
The Illini struggled with efficiency last week against the 2-5 Maryland Terrapins, only recording 20 points against the No. 121-ranked scoring defense in the country. The defense, meanwhile, has made great strides since Bobby Hauck's departure, allowing 21.3 points per game during their win streak.
Nebraska will pose a much tougher test for Bret Bielema's bunch, especially with a defense that ranks No. 14 in the country, allowing 15.6 points per game. The offense is also a unit that shouldn't be messed with, as they rank No. 44 in scoring with 32. 4 points per game.
The Cornhuskers have struggled to close out games during their losing streak, and quarterback Anthony Colandrea has thrown five interceptions throughout that span. But this is a solid team that Illinois can't overlook.
If Illinois can extend drives on offense and not force the defense into crucial situations, they can certainly make this a shootout in Champaign. This is a game Illinois can win, but don't be surprised if Nebraska turns things around.
