The Illinois basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon after a close loss to Alabama just days ago.

It was a disappointing loss for the Illini, but it wasn’t a blowout by any means. This was a close game that we just couldn’t hold on to.

Illinois will come out of the gates strong on Saturday, though. I am sure they have been working on the shortcomings from the Crimson Tide loss. Look for a strong showing for the Orange and Blue.

Here is the Illinois basketball vs Long Island how to watch, series history, and players to watch

  • Illinois basketball vs Long Island – How to watch

Coming off a tough loss to No. 11 Alabama, the Illinois basketball team is back in action on Saturday, November 22. This game will take place at 1:00 p.m. CT/2:00 p.m. ET on BTN+.

  • Illinois basketball vs Long Island – Series history

Most people would probably think the two teams haven’t played each other, but you would be wrong. Illinois and Long Island have played once.

The lone game was back in 1982. Illinois took on Long Island in the NIT and sent them packing with a 126-78 thumping. This was the only time they played, so Illinois leads the series 1-0.

  • Illinois basketball vs Long Island – Players to watch

Long Island isn’t a very good team, but they do have some decent guard play. The biggest threat is guard Jamal Fuller.

Fuller is averaging 16.5 points per game and is hitting 50% from three-point range. This team also relies heavily on their guards for rebounding, as the top three rebounds are all guards.

That brings me to Illinois’ players to watch. I think the Ivisic brothers and David Mirkovic are going to be huge pieces in this game. They all three can rebound, and they will tower over anything Long Island puts on the court.

Kylan Boswell will be big, too. He will likely be guarding Fuller for most of the game. He will be tasked with slowing him down greatly.
