The emotions that are flowing through the city of Champaign right now are electric after the historic Illinois basketball win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Elite Eight.
After two decades of waiting, the Illini have finally survived the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. They have clawed even closer to the mountaintop and will now face the UConn Huskies for a chance to go to the championship.
It is a surreal feeling right now, especially after all of the years of hardship that this program has gone through. But now, Brad Underwood, in his ninth season with the team, can finally say that the Illini are Final Four-bound.

This is a day that is 21 years in the making, with Illinois' last Final Four appearance dating back to the days of former Coach of the Year Bruce Weber. It dates back to one of the most dangerous starting fives in the history of basketball, which included Luther Head, Deron Williams, Dee Brown, James Augustine, and Roger Powell.
The 2004-05 Illinois basketball team was one of the greatest ever to grace the court, winning both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships with a record of 37-2. They were royalty, elite, and a unit whose greatness will never be matched.
But now, a new crop of Illini are in the driver seat, and are attempting to pull off the unthinkable in Indianapolis next weekend. But before they get there, they are going to have to get passed one of the biggest blue bloods in the tournament.
Illinois basketball looks to take down a major blue blood in quest for first national title
The Illini's quest for a national title hasn't come without some bumps in the road. This team has battled through it, dropping the Houston Cougars in the Sweet Sixteen before taking down their rival Iowa in the Elite Eight.
On Saturday, Illinois will face their toughest test of the year in a rematch against the Huskies. They will have to take down one of the most dominant programs in the game today, which is going to their third Final Four in the last four years.
UConn, led by head coach Dan Hurley, has a history with the Illini over the past few years. Earlier this season, the two teams met at Madison Square Garden, where the Huskies defeated Illinois by a score of 74-61. When they meet this Saturday, Illinois will look to exact some revenge.
It will be another big-time fight between these two programs. If anything, we should expect a battle for the ages at Lucas Oil Stadium, with Illinois fans showing out for their favorite team. This program has come too far to let up now, and it's time for them to finish the story that the greats helped start for them all of those years ago.
