Momentum is huge in recruiting, and the women’s Illinois basketball team doesn’t want that momentum to go away anytime soon.

Shauna Green has put together some insane Illini recruiting classes the past couple of years. In 2024, we pulled in five-star wing Berry Wallace. This sent shockwaves through the recruiting landscape.

Illinois followed that five-star addition up with a tremendous 2025 class. The addition of a five-star in Destiny Jackson, along with three four-star recruits, has the Illini budding with potential and talent.

Green isn’t letting the foot off the gas either. On Saturday morning, Micah Ojo took to social media to announce that she had received a scholarship offer from Illinois.

“After a great conversation, I am glad to have received an offer from the University of Illinois! Thank you Coach Green and Coach McEntire for this opportunity!”

Illinois is eyeing Ojo because she is one of the top recruits in the country. She is a 6-foot-1 wing from Princess Anne High School in Virginia. Ojo is rated as a five-star recruit and ranked as the No. 7 player in the class of 2027.

Illinois basketball just offered a player in Micah Ojo who could probably play in college right now

Ojo is a pretty young player. She just finished up her sophomore campaign and will be a junior in the fall. With that being said, she could probably play in the college ranks right now.

It is incredible what Ojo can do on the court. She can play every position. Her handles are elite, as she can weave through the lane and get past defenders. Ojo’s shot is impressive. She can hit from anywhere on the court. She has great size at 6-foot-1, too. Ojo still has two years in high school, which will only continue to improve her development as a player.

I can’t believe Ojo is only the No. 7 player in the country for 2027. It wouldn’t shock me to see her jump up into the top five and maybe even compete for the top spot. If she came to Illinois, we would instantly be a national title contender in 2027 and beyond.
