It was just two years ago that guard Terrence Shannon Jr. was suiting up for the Illinois Fighting Illini. Now, he is working through his second NBA Summer League. On Saturday night, Shannon had the performance of a lifetime, and he made sure that everyone knew where he came from.

In the Minnesota Timberwolves' Summer League game against the Denver Nuggets, Shannon racked up a resounding 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal, leading the T-Wolves to an 11-point victory.

Shannon did all of this while rocking a pair of Adidas that were undeniably in the colors of Illinois: orange and navy blue. Even Minnesota's social media team had to share out a couple of pictures of the former Illini in the shoes.

In the win, which was Minnesota's second of the Summer League, Shannon shot 8-of-19 from the field, including an incredible five made buckets from beyond the arc. To put it simply, Shannon put on a show.

Terrence Shannon Jr. leading the Timberwolves this summer

In the Timberwolves' first game this summer, Shannon led the team in scoring once again, as they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans by seven points. Shannon scored 20 points while contributing nine assists, six rebounds, and two steals to lead his team to its first victory.

During the 2024-25 NBA season (Shannon's first year in the league), he appeared in 32 games for the Timberwolves, even earning one start as a rookie. He averaged 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.2 steals per game.

Performing well during your team's Summer League schedule doesn't necessarily cement you as a starter or a big-time contributor for the regular season. However, Shannon repeatedly leading the team in scoring would make it pretty shocking if he didn't see more playing time next year.
