There are plenty of big headlines that have come from the Illinois football program, with the most notable one being the construction of the school's new state-of-the-art video board.
The Illini board, which will be located in the south end zone of Gies Memorial Stadium, is officially the largest main video display in college football history. In order to put that into perspective, the size of this board when completed will equate to 1,621 60-inch televisions put together.
On paper, when this project was first announced, it sounded like it was going to be a spectacle. But now that it's nearing completion, the sheer sight of this massive piece of technology has onlookers absolutely amazed.
Needed to share the view from inside the stadium.

The new addition to Gies Memorial Stadium is part of a massive renovation project, with the video board carrying a reported price tag of $20,938,463. This project is the biggest part of the school's future renovations that are being funded by a $100 million donation from alum Larry Gies Jr.
Illinois' new video board will be a major sight to see come Week 1 of the season
When the Illini play host to the UAB Blazers on opening night, it will be the first moment for fans to see the spectacle of the video board in all of its glory. It will be the first time that Illinois' new project will illuminate the night sky, as the football program takes another step into the future.
It will be a special night where, if unprepared, fans could be reaching for their sunglasses before the second quarter. This new board will certainly catch plenty of fans' eyes when it's finally turned on, and will allow fans from all angles to catch every second of the game.
Granted, some will argue that the money should have been used to build a better roster than in years past, and rightfully so. The Illini are reportedly operating with one of the lowest NIL budgets in the Big Ten, so it's safe to say that any extra money could've helped this roster in a big way.
But regardless of that, the trek that we have been on since the announcement of this project is finally coming to an end. The University of Illinois has upped its game when it comes to the fan experience, and now it's time to show that same spirit on the field.
