There were zero questions about the Illinois football offense coming off a win over UAB.
The Illini looked great, especially in the second half, against the Blazers. Katin Houser had one of the most efficient games in program history, and Illinois secured the 19-point win.
In that win, wide receiver Collin Dixon had two touchdowns and 70 yards receiving. This was a great start for Dixon, but it was just the appetizer for the massive entree we are witnessing against Duke.
Dixon started the day by getting Illinois on the board in the first drive of the game. A 13-yard touchdown reception was key in getting the Illini off the right foot. That was just the beginning of something special in the first 30 minutes of action.
Throughout the first half, Dixon was the main target for Houser. He would end up catching his third touchdown of the game with 1:48 left in the second quarter. So, in less than 30 minutes of game time, Dixon caught three touchdowns, which ties the single-game program record for receiving touchdowns.

It was great to watch Dixon put up some massive numbers in the first half. The fact that he can etch his name in the Illinois record book and still have a second half to play is a great feat.
The numbers that Dixon put up against Duke were personal bests, too.
Dixon ended the first half with nine receptions for 135 yards and three touchdowns. His previous high was six receptions, which came last week. He had 90 yards receiving last September, which his 135 yards smokes. His three touchdowns are the best in a single game in program history, so it is obviously his best.
This is shaping up to be a special game for Dixon. He is on pace for 18 receptions for 270 yards and six touchdowns. In less than 30 minutes, he entered legendary status. If he can duplicate his first half in the final 30 minutes of action, he enters the GOAT debate.
