At halftime of their Sweet 16 game, the Illinois Fighting Illini had seen their lead over the Houston Cougars reduced to just two points.

However, the No. 3-seed Illini led the No. 2-seed Cougs in Houston. As the second half unfolded, the Illini maintained and even built their lead.

Despite all of that, Illinois head coach Brad Underwood was getting ripped into on social media as fans complained that he wasn't coaching as well as he needed to in order to win.

Of course, a lot of the complaints came toward the end of the first half as Houston shrank Illinois's lead, but still, the Fighting Illini were beating the higher-seeded Cougars.

Not to mention the fact that Illinois had held Houston to just 22 points in the first 20 minutes, completely shutting down numerous offensive efforts by the Cougs.

Despite the lead, which continued to blossom during the start of the second half, people weren't happy with Underwood's performance from the sidelines, saying that he was greatly underperforming compared to Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson.

Of course, Sampson is one of the all-time great head coaches currently in the game and is just a year removed from leading Houston to the National Championship game.

As the lead continued to grow and the clock gradually neared zero, the complaints quieted down, but at the end of the day, ripping into a coach whose team was beating one of the top programs in the nation is a little brutal, even for college basketball fans.
