The 2026 NBA Draft is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23, and the Illinois basketball team awaits to see where one of our beloved will be selected.
Keaton Wagler came to Champaign and sprinkled a little dust over everyone, as we all fell in love with him and his game. He seemed like truly one of the best people and players the Illini have ever had.
Now that Wagler played so well, the NBA is calling. He will find out his destination here in less than 48 hours, and at this point, it seems pretty clear that Wagler has a floor and ceiling on how far he can climb in the draft and how far he can fall.
Keaton Wagler 2026 NBA Draft ceiling
While I would love Wagler to go No. 1 overall, and when we redraft the 2026 NBA Draft in a couple of years, he could easily be the best player, he doesn’t have a chance to climb that high in real time.
The highest I have ever seen Wagler in any mock draft was No. 4 overall, but that was a long time ago. As of right now, I believe the ceiling for Wagler on Tuesday night is going to be pick No. 5.
That pick is currently being held by the Los Angeles Clippers. This would be a good landing spot, but honestly, with all of the cap circumvention stuff going on, I am not sure if they will have that pick or what will happen to it.
Keaton Wagler 2026 NBA Draft floor
Wagler is going to be one of the top picks in the draft on Tuesday night. His ceiling should be higher, but thankfully, his floor isn’t very low.
There isn’t a wide range of selections where Wagler could be picked. The lowest I have seen him ranked in any NBA Mock Draft is No. 7, and I think that is his floor.
I believe there is an obvious line of talent between pick No. 7 and No. 8. Wagler is easily on the right side of that line, and that is why No. 7 is as far as he is likely to fall. He is right in line with picks No. 5 and No. 6, too. That is why if a team likes him, he could climb into one of those spots.
Tuesday night is going to be exciting for Illinois basketball fans. We are locked in to have a top 10 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Wagler had one special season in Champaign, and now the rest of his career is about to be laid out before our eyes.
