It was just a tune-up game, but the Illinois basketball team looked good against Illinois State on Sunday.

3. Give me the Brandon Lee aggression all day

Having a guard on the Illinois roster who can attack downhill has always been a goal. I want someone who can get to the rim and create chaos when he is in the lane.

I think that is what the Illini are getting with Brandon Lee. He was a good shooter from the perimeter in the high school ranks, but Lee didn’t settle for shots in the exhibition game against Illinois State.

You are going to win Brad Underwood over with the mentality of Lee. He got downhill a lot, and it resulted in some good shots. Lee finished the game with 17 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

This was a great learning game for Lee, too. He made some errors early on in the contest, and this helped his develop his understanding for the college game. One error included him taking the ball by himself to the hoop while others were open around him. He has to learn how to hone his talent, and that is all a learning moment for an eager player.

Give me Lee’s aggression all day, though. The more he attacks the basket, the more opportunities Illinois will have at scoring points. I love this addition to the roster.
