5. What does Brad Underwood’s starting lineup look like?

I don’t think Brad Underwood is going to reveal everything on Sunday against Ole Miss. We will get a glimpse into his mind, but Illinois has so much talent that I think things are going to change from game to game.

With all of that talent, I am curious what the starting lineup looks like. There are a lot of big-time players who need minutes, but there are only so many minutes available.

There are a few players who I think are locks to start. I think Kylan Boswell, Tre White, Will Riley, and Morez Johnson Jr. will all start for Illinois from game one. They are the players who I would be surprised if they didn’t start.

That leaves one spot open for some talented players. Is Ty Rodgers going to continue to start or is Kasparas Jakucionis going to take that starting job? I am not sure if it will matter because I believe there will be a timeshare, but it is going to be interesting to see who gets the starting nod.

What we see against Ole Miss won’t be set in stone. I imagine Underwood is going to see who has chemistry with whom and that is how he will build his lineups. But at least initially, Illinois fans get a view of what could be for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Basketball. Is. BACK.
