The last player on my offensive line wish list 1.0 is a former junior college player who had a big year in the FBS ranks. I want Illinois to look at JC Davis.

Davis is a 6-foot-5, 307-pound offensive tackle who didn’t have any recruiting attention coming out of high school in California. He landed with Contra Costa College in the JUCO ranks. In 2022, he transferred into the New Mexico program where he has started 25 games in the past two seasons.

In 2023, Davis made the first team All-Mountain West. His grades for this past season were impressive too. Davis had an overall grade of 77.7, which ranked No. 33 among all offensive tackles. He also had a pass-blocking grade of 87.1, which ranked No. 16 in the country.

Someone with 25 starts in two seasons has a ton of experience. That checks the experience box. Davis then has grades that are insanely high. He is a talented offensive tackle who could help Illinois immediately. That checks another box.

Davis is a player who can come into the Illinois program and start from day one. With Isaiah Adams and Julian Pearl both departing, the Illini need offensive tackles who can fill those voids. Davis is a perfect option. Illinois would be smart to pursue his services.

Next. Illini entering 2024 with a talented quarterback room. dark
