Illinois football is back in action this week, as we take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Coming off a tough loss to the Purdue Boilermakers, the Illini look to rebound to bring the record to 3-3 on the season. This won’t be an easy test, though. Nebraska has a decent defense, and their fans travel well.

Win or lose, it is always nice to make a little scratch while watching.

Here are the Illinois football vs. Nebraska first half lines, game lines, and best bets

1st half lines

  • Spread – Illinois -2.5 (-110), Nebraska +2.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline – Illinois -148, Nebraska +124
  • Over/Under – Over 21.5 points (-108), Under 21.5 points (-112)

Game lines

  • Spread – Illinois -3.5 (-105), Nebraska +3.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline – Illinois -166, Nebraska +140
  • Over/Under – Over 43.5 points (-110), Under 43.5 points (-110)

Illinois vs. Nebraska best bets

  • 1st half – Under 21.5 points

Illinois and Nebraska have been two teams allergic to offense. I didn’t think you could get much worse than the Illini averaging 9.6 points in the half of games this season. Nebraska said, “hold my beer.”

The Cornhuskers are averaging an insanely bad 4.2 points in the first half of games this season. This includes being held scoreless in the first half in three out of five games. I think you might see 14 points, at best, in the first half on Friday night.

  • Game line – Nebraska +3.5

At the end of the day, I think Illinois is going to win this game, but we tend to keep games close. The Illini are 2-3 this season, and the two wins have come by an average of four points.

Nebraska isn’t a very good team, but they do have a great run defense. If Illinois can’t get anything going on the ground, then there is a solid chance we won’t score a ton of points. This game is going to be ugly with the score finishing something like 17-14 in favor of the Orange and Blue.
