5. Isaiah Williams is fun to watch

There have been a decent number of electric players over the years. I remember the likes of Arrelious Benn and AJ Jenkins, to name a couple.

But, at the end of the day, Isaiah Williams might be the most electric wide receiver to come through the Illinois program in the past 20 years. He has been incredible for the Illini, and Saturday was no disappointment.

Williams had his best game of the season, going for 120 yards on eight receptions. He hasn’t managed to take one to the house yet, but he gets Illinois’ offense going so we can get to the red zone.

During the second Illinois touchdown that gave us the lead for good, Williams had four receptions for 39 yards. While he didn’t get into the end zone, his final reception got the Illini down to the Florida Atlantic seven yard line where Luke Altmyer would punch it in.

Altmyer doesn’t have an offensive line to protect him, so having a nice safety blanket like Williams is a luxury. Williams can catch a ball one yard past the line of scrimmage and make it look like a 25-yard reception. This kid has the ability to burst through a defense with ease.

For the season, Williams now has 24 receptions for 333 yards. He is on pace for 72 receptions for 999 yards. That would be a great season for an Illini wide receiver and one that would go down in the record books. This kid is special.
