2. Memphis Grizzlies

At this point in the proceedings, Ayo is a depth piece who could help a team win some games. He can come in and give the team minutes and there won’t be a huge drop-off.

A team that I believe would benefit from this happening is the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are going to have a solid starting rotation, but beyond the first five or six players, they get kind of weak.

  • Additions

Memphis added a few solid pieces this offseason. Marcus Smart is coming in from Boston and should provide some toughness to the franchise. Smart will help stabilize the Grizzlies as they wait for Ja Morant to return from suspension.

I think the addition of Derrick Rose will also be underrated for Memphis. He provides veteran leadership and knowledge of the game.

  • Departures/Potential Departures

Dillion Brooks left Memphis for the Houston Rockets. He frees up some space on the wing for the Grizzlies.

While this isn’t technically a departure, having Morant suspended for 25 games is huge. Memphis is going to need more depth, especially early in the season.

  • Where Ayo Dosunmu would fit in

For the first 25 games, the Memphis backcourt is going to be Smart and Desmond Bane starting with Rose and, maybe, Luke Kennard as the backups. I think Ayo would have a good shot to see meaningful minutes in that backcourt.

There is definitely a depth need for the Grizzlies entering the 2023-24 season and beyond. Snagging a young talented guard like Ayo on the cheap would be a good play. I also would like to see Ayo learn from fellow Chicago native, Rose.
