Michael Lewis – Oakland Soldiers (PIT)

Not all of the big-time targets for the Illinois basketball team are playing in the Peach Jam. The Nike EYBL is holding the Peach Invitational Tournament (PIT) which has the teams that didn’t qualify for the Peach Jam playing in a tournament. This is where you will find Michael Lewis.

Lewis is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Prolific Prep High School in California. He is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 62 player in the class of 2024. He is also the No. 10 combo guard in the country and the No. 7 player coming out of California.

About three weeks ago, Lewis did an interview with Jamie Shaw of On3, and he talked about how he hasn’t taken a single official visit yet. Lewis said he was talking with San Diego State, St. Mary’s, LSU, Syracuse, and Illinois.

The talented guard has been getting a ton of recruiting attention and rightfully so. Lewis has put up some impressive numbers. He is currently suiting up for Oakland Soldiers in the PIT, and the team is 3-1 through four games.

In those four contests, Lewis has averaged 22.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 43.5% shooting from the field and an outstanding 40.5% from three-point range.

Illinois always needs more guard help, and Lewis would be a great answer to that problem. He would also pair nicely with Morez Johnson Jr. in the class of 2024. I believe a lot of resources need to be put into recruiting Lewis.
