The Nike EYBL Peach Jam is taking place, and Illinois basketball commit Morez Johnson Jr. is showing out.

Currently, the Illini only have one commitment for the class of 2024, and that is Johnson. He is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound center who is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 38 player in the country. He is also the No. 6 center in the nation and the best player coming out of Illinois.

This offseason, Johnson decided to transfer down to Thornton Township High School where he will play his final year of high school basketball. But before he gets to suit up for the Wildcats, Johnson still has unfinished business to take care of at the AAU level.

Johnson suits up for the Meansteets in the Nike EYBL. He was incredible during the AAU season, and this helped the Meanstreets get into the Peach Jam that started on Monday.

Through the first two games, the Meansteets are 2-0. This undefeated start is being led by Johnson, who was able to put up 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and one block in game one against the NH Lightning.

Johnson then put on another spectacular performance on Tuesday, as he was able to drop 14 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a victory over JL3.

As the Meanstreets prepare for another big game on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. CT, they can always fall back on the talents of Johnson. He is currently averaging 15.0 points and a Peach Jam-high 12.5 rebounds per contest.

Johnson is an exciting player to watch on the court. He is a special talent and continues to show that in every game he plays. Let’s see if Johnson can lead his Meanstreets team to a Peach Jam title.
