The recruiting game is constantly ongoing, and that is why you will find Illinois basketball coaches at various camps and tournaments throughout the summer.

The NBPA Top 100 Camp is currently being held in Orlando, Florida. This camp features some of the top players from various recruiting classes across the globe.

On Wednesday, it was reported that numerous coaches were in to watch the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Among the teams that were named was the Illini.

Illinois has a big reason to be at this camp. Our lone commitment for 2024, Morez Johnson Jr., is participating. He is suiting up for the Golden State Warriors and is putting up some impressive numbers.

Through five games thus far, Johnson is averaging 16.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He is also shooting 61.4% from the field in this stretch of games. I am also impressed by the fact he only has six turnovers in five games.

Other names Illinois basketball could be keeping an eye on at the 2023 NBPA Top 100 Camp

Illinois is in the mix for a lot of players over the next couple of classes. If I have learned anything from the Brad Underwood era it is that he is going to go after some pretty big players.

The Illini have been in the mix for Mikey Lewis. He is a 6-foot-3 guard who is the No. 76 player in the class of 2024. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lewis mentioned that he is wanting to set up official visits, and Illinois was mentioned in the possibilities.

Lewis has averaged 9.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 steals in the five games he has played at the camp thus far.

Another name that pops up is Jeremiah Fears. He is a 6-foot-2 guard who is the No. 40 player in the class of 2025. Fears is originally from Joliet, Illinois but is playing his high school basketball out at Compass Prep in Arizona. The Illini have already had Fears in for an unofficial visit and will put a lot of resources into recruiting him in the coming months and years.

Over four games, Fear has averaged 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Shockingly, he is also averaging 1.0 blocks per contest.

These are just two of the names to keep an eye on as recruiting progresses. Illinois is in the mix for some of the best players in the country.
