It looks like the recruiting machine is heating up once again, as the Illinois football program is favored to land another player.

The last month has been great for the Illini. We have been able to land some talented players for the class of 2024, and Bret Bielema isn’t even close to being finished.

As of this moment, Illinois has 11 commitments for 2024 and a recruiting ranking of No. 38 in the country. We are currently on pace to have another top-50 recruiting class, and adding someone like Amar Reynolds would help achieve that goal.

On Friday morning, a Crystal Ball Prediction was submitted for Reynolds. Jeremy Werner of 247Sports put in a prediction that Illinois would land the talented athlete. He has a confidence of seven out of 10, which generally means that it will happen.

Illinois football is looking to fill out the roster with players like Amar Reynolds

Reynolds is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete from Fort Pierce Westwood High School in Florida. He isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, but he does have a handful of scholarship offers.

The Illini will get a chance to land Reynolds this weekend, as he is in Champaign for a big recruiting trip. Numerous recruits are visiting the campus, so look for another active few days for the Illini class 2024.

Opinion

A player like Reynolds won’t blow your socks off on paper. He isn’t rated or ranked, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t good. Illinois’ coaching staff clearly sees a lot of potential in this kid if they are willing to offer him a scholarship.

Reynolds seems to have good instincts on the football field. His vision is solid as well. I see him coming into the Illinois program more as a depth piece in the secondary, but we could use him in various roles.

Hopefully, this Crystal Ball Prediction does come true. Illinois needs depth, and Reynolds can provide that depth wherever the coaching staff sees a need. It is always good to land versatility.
