Illinois football had a bye week on the field, but the coaching staff was doing some serious work off the field.

With a 2-1 start to the 2022 campaign, the Illini are in a good position to make a bowl game for the second time in four years. Bret Bielema and his coaching staff have this team playing well, but we are going to need to continue to pile up talented players so we can continue to win.

Illinois has started the 2023 class off on the right foot. We currently have the No. 55 ranked class in the country, and that number will only get stronger if we can land some of the top targets still left on the board. One of those top targets is Jyaire Hill.

Hill is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback from Kankakee High School and resides in Kankakee, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 147 player in the class of 2023. Hill is also the No. 13 cornerback in the nation and the No. 2 player coming out of the state of Illinois.

Illinois football is all-in on landing four-star defensive back Jyaire Hill.

As of right now, Hill has roughly 25 scholarship offers. The kid is a wanted recruit because he is one of the top talents in the nation. He has already been on three official visits as well.

On May 13, he visited Washington. Hill then finished two other official visits on June 3 and June 10 to Illinois and Michigan, respectively. Since those visits, Hill has taken a couple of unofficial visits to Champaign, and we have picked up two predictions for Hill to commit to the Illini.

Illinois continues to recruit Hill extremely hard as well. Just this past Friday, Bielema and defensive coordinator Ryan Walters were up in Kankakee to watch Hill play football. For those of you wondering, Kankakee destroyed Manual 49-0.

Obviously, Hill is a priority to the Illinois coaching staff. With the way we are developing defensive backs, there is no telling how great Hill could end up being for the Illini. This is a huge recruit for the Bielema era of Illinois football. I would argue that Hill is a must-get. Let’s see how this plays out.
