4. Jaye Nash

I love having a stable backcourt. Illinois basketball hit the lowest of lows back in the mid-to-late 2010s because we didn’t have solid point guards. But that is being solved by Brad Underwood and his coaching staff.

A big point guard target for the Illini is Jaye Nash. He is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard from Briarcrest Christian High School and resides in Memphis, Tennessee. 247Sports doesn’t have him rated or ranked, but Rivals does have Nash as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 95 player in the class of 2024.

Nash is really racking up the scholarship offers. Since he is from the 2024 class, it would make sense for him not to have a ton of recruiting attention, but that isn’t the case at all. Nash already has roughly 10 scholarship offers on the table and more are sure to come.

Illinois is one of those scholarship offers. We have been recruiting this kid for quite some time. Back in late July, Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers reported that Illinois was in heavy pursuit of Nash. He would also report that Nash had plans to take an unofficial visit to Champaign.

Again, having more point guards on the team would be optimal. Illinois already has ZZ Clark committed for 2024, but having the potential of a Clark and Nash backcourt is exciting.
