No. 2 Guard

Starter: Luke Goode

A junior version of Luke Goode is scary. Last season, as a freshman, we got to see a sprinkle of what Goode could bring to the Illinois basketball program. I loved every second of him being on the court.

Goode is going to be a nightmare for opposing teams moving forward. He is a 6-foot-7 monster who can play multiple roles on the court. At that height, he shot 37.2% from three-point range last season. Just imagine what he is going to be like with a little more development. I expect Goode to be even more dangerous this season and then be All-American caliber in 2023-24. He should start at the No. 2 spot for Illinois that season.

Backup: Sencire Harris

Illinois fans haven’t even experienced the type of talent Sencire Harris is going to bring to Champaign. The multi-time state champion at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Ohio knows how to win and will be bringing that with him.

Harris was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. I expect to see a smattering of him this season, but when the 2023-24 campaign rolls around, he should be a primary backup at the No. 2 spot. A one-two punch of great shooting and athletic ability from Goode and Harris is going to be fun to watch for Illini Nation.
