NBA Summer League is in full swing, and Illinois basketball fans have a reason to watch over the next week or so.

Sadly, the Illini didn’t have a player picked in the 2022 NBA Draft. This was always a possibility, as Kofi Cockburn was a fringe draft prospect. But, even though zero Illinois players were selected, there are a couple of former players suiting up in the NBA Summer League.

The first session of the summer league was out in California from July 2-5. Illinois didn’t have anyone suit up for this session. But the second session is the Utah summer league. The Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Utah Jazz will be competing in this summer league.

You will find Kofi donning the jersey of the Utah Jazz. Utah signed Kofi to an Exhibit 10 deal, which can be converted into a two-way contract before the season starts. This puts a ton of pressure on the big man to perform well in the summer league.

Illinois does have one more player playing in the 2022 NBA Summer League. No, it is not Ayo Dosunmu. He was pulled off the roster by the Chicago Bulls because he doesn’t need to prove himself in the summer league anymore. The Bulls do have another former Illinois player, and that player is named Malcolm Hill.

Back in January, Chicago signed Hill to a two-way contract. They then extended another two-way deal to Hill within the last couple of weeks. A good showing in the summer league would help Hill cement his place on an NBA roster.

Here is the 2022 Summer League schedule for the former Illinois basketball players Kofi Cockburn and Malcolm Hill.
