  • Career: 0.6 Pts, 0.1 Reb
  • 2 NCAA

The list of the best Illinois basketball players to ever wear the No. 2 continues with another reserve who didn’t see too many minutes. As mentioned in the previous slide, the history of the No. 2 is extremely short for the Illini.

Taking the No. 3 spot is former Illini guard, Chris Hicks. He probably doesn’t ring a bell to many fans under the age of 30 years old, but Hicks was a reserve for Illinois back in the mid-2000s.

During his three years with the program, Hicks would play in 34 games but would only average 1.7 minutes per contest. Honestly, his numbers and time on the floor match up pretty well with Connor Serven, who was the No. 4 player to ever don the No. 2 jersey.

Hicks’ numbers were technically slightly better than Serven’s, so that is why he took the No. 3 spot. The best season Hicks would have for the Orange and Blue consisted of 0.9 points and 0.1 rebounds per game. His career averages were 0.6 points and 0.1 rebounds per contest.

Illinois would make back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances with Hicks on the roster. We would go 1-2 in those two showings, though.
