The king of the No. 13 has arrived. Who else would take the crown of the best Illinois basketball player to ever wear the No. 13 other than the great, Kendall Gill?

I wish I was alive to see Gill play college basketball. I only had the privilege to watch him have a solid NBA career. Gill isn’t just one of the best to wear No. 13 for the Orange and Blue, though. He is one of the best to ever wear an Illinois jersey.

The best season Gill had with the Illini consisted of him averaging 20 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. For his Illinois career, he would average 12 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

Illinois’ success during Gill’s career is nearly close to being unmatched. Every year the program would make the NCAA tournament. During his junior year, the Illini would have an incredible run and get to the Final 4 where they would lose a close matchup against the eventual national champion, Michigan.

Gill would also make the All-Big Ten team, and he was a consensus All-American as well. The accolades Gill piled up while at Illinois are impressive. He is one of the best to ever play in Champaign and the best No. 13 to ever suit up for the Illini.
