4. Tracy Abrams

  • Best: 10.6 Pts, 3.5 Reb, 3.4 Ast, 1.4 Stl
  • Career: 8.6 Pts, 3.1 Reb, 2.7 Ast, 1 Stl
  • 1 NCAA

If I had more information on Wally Osterkorn, he probably would have been No. 4 on the list of the top five players in Illinois basketball history to wear the No. 13. But I didn’t have the numbers on him, so Tracy Abrams takes the No. 4 spot.

Abrams was always a fan favorite. For the most part, he had a pretty good career with Illinois as well. But, man, I am not sure if I have ever seen a more up and down time in one player’s journey. He had to deal with a massive collapse by the team, a coaching change, and he then missed two straight years due to injury.

The best season Abrams had with the Illini consisted of him putting up 10.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Overall, for his career in Champaign, Abrams would average 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Illinois would only make the NCAA tournament one time during Abrams’ run. This was during his sophomore year when the Illini finished strong and made it to the second round only to fall short to Miami (FL) in a rough ending.
