Illinois football has had a busy last couple of weeks as they are trying to lay the foundation for the future.

The Illini are by no means finished with the class of 2023, but Bret Bielema and his staff have been offering some important 2024 recruits lately. One of the most recent was to Kevin Levy.

Levy is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound wide receiver from Cardinal Newman High School and resides in West Palm Beach, Florida. As of right now, Levy isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, but we are pretty early in his recruitment. Over the next year or so, you will see him register in the rankings.

Illinois wasn’t the only offer for the young wide receiver. Levy has interest from other programs and also received a scholarship offer from Pittsburgh on the same day the Illini came in with an offer. Look for Levy’s recruitment to really pick up in the coming months and his scholarship total to approach 10 before the start of the 2022 season.

Illinois football has done a great job recruiting talented wide receivers.

Levy isn’t just a football player. According to his Twitter profile, he runs track as well. He runs the 100m, 200m, the 4×1, and the 4×4. This track ability shows on the football field. Levy is an athletic freak. He can get open with his legs. He has a great ability to high-point the ball. He can also be someone who racks up the yards-after-catch.

If Illinois would add Levy to the

roster

down the road, he would build on the trend of Bielema bringing in talented wide receivers.

The 2022 class produced two top 800 recruits in Shawn Miller and Eian Pugh. This was Bielema’s first class, and it was one of the best for the program in the last decade. I mentioned those two wide receivers because they were ranked inside the top 1000, but Illinois is also bringing in three other talented pass catchers in Hank Beatty, Ashton Hollins, and Tyson Rooks to help with the wide receiver corps.

I like what Levy could bring to the Illinois football team. Having a track athlete on the football field will help us get to another level speed-wise. This is a recruitment to watch in the coming months and years. Levy would be a great addition to the program.
