No. 2 Guard

Starter: Luke Goode

I would argue this was the most impressive get for Brad Underwood since he became the head coach of the Illini. Illinois coaches don’t pull players from northeast Indiana, but he managed to snag Luke Goode out of Homestead.

Goode’s first year with the Illini was solid. We didn’t have to use him too much due to so much talent returning from the year before, but Goode played well when he saw the court. He would average 8.9 minutes and put up 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game as a freshman. I see all of Goode’s numbers skyrocketing this upcoming season. He should be slotted into the starting No. 2 guard spot. His size and shooting ability make him an extremely dangerous player for the Orange and Blue.

Backup: Sencire Harris

I am excited about the potential of the class of 2022 Illinois is bringing in. One of the key players from this class is Sencire Harris. He is a building block to what should be a deep rotation of players for the 2022-23 campaign.

Harris is entering the Illinois program as a four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 98 player in the class of 2022. He was also the No. 12 shooting guard in the country and the best player coming out of Ohio. I love Harris as a backup to Goode in year one. He can come in and be a sparkplug off the bench for the Illini. By year two, Harris should see a minutes increase and, potentially, a starting job. The sky is the limit for this kid.
