2. Terrence Shannon

There are quite a few options for the Illini in the transfer portal this offseason. One of the biggest targets for the Orange and Blue should be Terrence Shannon.

Shannon is originally from Chicago, Illinois, but he transferred down to IMG Academy for his senior season of high school basketball. This move helped earn him a four-star rating and a ranking as the No. 90 player in the class of 2019. He was also the No. 21 small forward in the nation and the No. 13 player coming out of Florida.

Texas Tech would be the eventual landing spot for Shannon. He spent three seasons with the Red Raiders and finished with career averages of 11.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. This past season alone, he would elevate his free throw shooting from 75.6% to 78.4%, his three-point shooting from 35.7% to 38.4%, and his field goal shooting from 44.8% to 45.5%.

Illinois has already been in contact with Shannon this time around. With those types of numbers and two years of eligibility remaining, Shannon is an intriguing transfer. The Illini are also rumored to be the favorites to land the former Red Raider, along with Kentucky.

This would be a huge transfer to land for Illinois. Shannon would come in and be the starting No. 3 wing. We would have to figure some things out with some of the younger guys who are probably expecting a starting role, but this would be a good problem to have.
