3. Shauna Green – Dayton Flyers Head Coach

Illinois needs to go out and get someone who can come in and make an impact from day one. A coach like Shauna Green could do that.

The coaching experience that Green brings to the table is pretty solid. She is someone who knows how to coach at the college level, and that is proven in the record she has with the Dayton Flyers.

Green has made numerous stops en route to the Dayton job. She started at the lower levels with Loras College and worked her way up the ranks. After her stop at Loras College, Green would then make stops at Providence, Dayton, and Northwestern before coming back to the Flyers as the head coach in 2016.

The success Green has seen as the head coach of Dayton is impressive. Dayton has won the A-10 regular season title in five out of the six seasons Green has been at the helm. The Flyers have also made the NCAA tournament in three of those seasons, and it could be a fourth if they can play well in the A-10 Tournament. Dayton currently has 12 votes to be in the AP Top 25.

In the year before Green took over the Dayton program, the Flyers were 14-15 overall and 7-9 in the A-10. Since then, they haven’t had a losing season, they have won the A-10 five times, they have made the NCAA tournament three going on four times, and Dayton is one of the most respected teams in college basketball. They also beat Illinois this season by 14 points.

I think Green is a great option as the next head coach of the Illini. She has been a great coach for years with Dayton, and she would be amazing in Champaign.
