The class of 2024 recruiting spree is in full swing, as Illinois basketball offers Isaiah Evans.

Evans, a 2024 recruit, received yet another offer to come play for one of the country’s best programs, which is none other than the Illini. The small forward from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina, is one of the most intriguing prospects in the nation.

According to 247Sports, Evans is a 96 overall and is ranked as the No. 20 player in his graduating class. He also holds the title of being the seventh-best small forward and the third-best player in the state of North Carolina.

Evans holds offers from other big-time programs outside of the Illini. These include Texas A&M and Tennessee, to name a couple. It is still relatively early in the recruiting process, but to see three of college basketball’s best teams on Evans’ radar is quite intriguing, to say the least.

How has the Illinois basketball target fared during the 2021-2022 season?

As for Evans’ play on the court and his team’s overall performance, it has been stellar. The Vikings currently have a record of 26-4 overall and are currently in the midst of a state playoff run that has seen the program knock off R.J. Reynolds, Alexander Central, and Mount Tabor.

The victory against Mount Tabor came as recently as Saturday night, where the Vikings pulled away en route to a 63-52 win while protecting its home court in the process.

Check out Evans’ 2021 summer league highlights in the video below. The 6-foot-6, 165-pound sophomore has tremendous upside with his ball-handling abilities, quick feet, and instantaneous vision as he comes up the floor.

Since Evans’ recruiting cycle is fairly new, it will be interesting to see if the North Carolina product picks up more offers from in-state schools and beyond. Chances are, though, as a four-star recruit, this is likely to occur.

For now, the Vikings will continue to set their sights on a state championship to close out the 2021 season.
