4. How will the great duo perform in their first true test?

With the Illinois basketball team figuring things out early on in the season, they have found that there is one of the most dynamic duos in program history currently on the roster.

Everyone knew Kofi Cockburn was going to have a big year. He was a preseason All-American, so he wasn’t sneaking up on anyone. But what most people weren’t counting on was the emergence of Alfonso Plummer.

Plummer wasn’t even listed as one of the top 100 newcomers for the 2021-22 campaign. That will always blow my mind, but eight games into the season, Plummer has proven that he is one of the best newcomers and one of the best players in the Big Ten.

The duo of Kofi and Plummer is something special. I know it is still pretty early in the season, but this duo has performed well and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Since Plummer started to get serious minutes, the duo of him and Kofi has been amazing. Plummer has averaged 24 points in this four-game stretch, while Kofi has topped the sharpshooter with 25.5 points. Needless to say, Illinois is 4-0 during this run of greatness.

On Monday night, I am going to be watching to see if this duo can keep up their dominance. They feed off each other so well. It is amazing having an inside presence who attracts defenders while a great three-point shooter like Plummer can then get the ball on the perimeter. I want to see another big night out of these two.
