Illinois basketball has been busy over the past week with winning games on the court and trying to recruit talent for the future of the program.

On Monday night, the Illini picked up a huge Crystal Ball Prediction for Jeremy Fears. The talented 2023 point guard is looking for a home, and Champaign is just a hop, skip, and jump away from his current home in northwest Indiana.

While Illinois seems to be inching closer and closer to landing Fears, they are also now eyeing a solid running mate for him. Just about a week ago, the Illini extended a scholarship offer to Kris Parker.

Parker is a 6-foot-6, 170-pound shooting guard from Crossroad Academy and resides in Quincy, Florida. He is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 32 player in the class of 2023. He is also the No. 6 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 4 player coming out of Florida.

Adding a solid wing player would be big for the Illinois basketball program.

While 2023 is still a couple of years away, it is always good to be planning. We need a solid point guard like Fears, but Illinois is going to need someone who can space the floor. Parker is that player.

Parker is starting to pile up the offers with roughly nine on the table right now. Some of the bigger programs eyeing the wing include Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, and now Illinois.

I love what Parker would bring to the Illinois basketball team. He already has great size for his age, but this kid is also skilled beyond his years.

Parker can hit shots from anywhere on the court. He has a solid stroke from three-point range, but he isn’t afraid to drive the lane and finish at the rim. I think he has a chance to be a really good player at the next level. I see him teaming up with Fears and giving the Illini a national title-contending team.
