5. Davius Loury

The final player in the top five is less nationally recognized than the previous four recruits. I am going to say that Davius Loury is one of the top targets for the Illini in 2023.

Loury is a 6-foot-7, 205-pound power forward from Kenwood Academy and resides in Chicago, Illinois. He isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, but Rivals has him as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 99 player in the class of 2023.

The recruitment for Loury hasn’t quite picked up full steam just yet. He has roughly seven scholarship offers, one of which is from Illinois. But I am sure the big man will have a lot of offers flow in over the next year or so.

I feel like Illinois is in a good position to end up landing someone like Loury. He has an interest in the program and was actually down for a visit this past weekend with high school teammate, JJ Taylor. Having both Taylor and Loury on the same team at the college level will help with chemistry.

There is still a long way to go in the Loury recruitment, but I would love him on the Illinois basketball team. Another talented in-state recruit who plays for the Mac Irvin Fire AAU program would be big. Let’s continue using this pipeline so we can win a national title.
