2. Time for a youth movement at quarterback

Through a couple of games this season, I thought maybe that Artur Sitkowski could be a solid option behind Brandon Peters at quarterback. I thought we had some solid depth.

Well, I was dead wrong. While we did have multiple quarterbacks who had experience, that didn’t mean the experience was good experience. In fact, at this point in the game, I think it is time to seriously think about trying some youth at quarterback to see what we have moving forward.

One thing I know for sure is that the two quarterbacks who played for the Illini against Wisconsin should not be the starting quarterback next season. While Peters is gone because he is a super senior, Sitkowski still has a couple of years left to play. But I think it is time for a youth movement. It is time to bring in a Bret Bielema-style quarterback.

Moving forward, let’s try a few different options at quarterback. The first option is Samari Collier. The talented Texas quarterback put up some big numbers with DeSoto. He has a great arm and can move around the field well. I think he could give us a bigger playmaking element to the offense.

The second option, and I know I am going to get criticized for this, is Isaiah Williams. I know he moved to wide receiver, and I love him in this role, but I also believe he can be an effective quarterback. He would run the ball a lot more and pass a few times a game, but he would give us a great chance to control the clock and keep the opposing offense off the field.

It is time to make some adjustments. Peters and Sitkowski are just not the answer. Let’s see what Collier and even Williams can do at the quarterback position.
