With week one on the horizon, the Illinois football team is gearing up to take on a tough University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Roadrunners program.

The Illini didn’t just come through for my fandom against Nebraska last week, they also pulled out a big weekend for my wallet. I went 2-1 with my bets on the Orange and Blue with the only loss being on the over/under.

I ended up taking over 55.5 points in the Illinois vs. Nebraska game. That fell just short as the final total ended up at 52 points. But I did end up taking Illinois and the +7, and I also had the Illini on the moneyline. Both bets won.

Illinois takes on UTSA in what should be an interesting matchup. According to WynnBET, the Illini are -200 straight-up in the moneyline.

So, this is a matter of do I think Illinois will beat UTSA. I believe the answer is, yes. While UTSA is experienced and returns some solid talent from a bowl team in 2020, I think Illinois has more firepower on both sides of the ball. I do think the game will be close, though.

Now, this is where things get a little trickier. Illinois is a five-point favorite against the Roadrunners. At the end of the day, I expect this game to be a dogfight. While I think the Illini will win, the question is will they cover the -5 in the game?

I am going to go Illinois -5 against UTSA. Let me reiterate, I believe this game will be close. I am pegging the Illini winning the game by a touchdown, so that would cover the five points.

Illinois football over/under vs UTSA

WynnBET does it again. They give me another hard over/under for Saturday. I missed out by three points last week, so the over/under of 50 points against UTSA is extremely tough.

Both teams are heavy-run programs. That means the clock is more likely to run throughout the game, which means less time to score points. Both quarterbacks are average through the air as well, so there isn’t too much of a worry about an arms race.

Next. Prediction for week one against UTSA. dark

I am picturing this game ending up something like Illinois 24 UTSA 17. That is what I can see happening. That would put the total at 41 points.
