Illinois Game Saturday: Illinois vs. UTSA odds, prediction, injury report, schedule, live stream, and TV channel for week 1
Coming off a good win to open the season, the Illinois football program will welcome the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Roadrunners this Saturday.
After fighting through some injuries this past weekend, the Illini managed to take control of the game against Nebraska. There is nothing better than opening the season up with not only a win but a Big Ten win. Illinois is now 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten entering the official week one of the season.
UTSA, on the other hand, has not played a game this season. Don’t let the acronym fool you, this isn’t an easy game by any means. UTSA played nearly a full schedule in 2020 and went 7-4. This was good enough to make a bowl game where they narrowly lost to No. 19 ranked Louisiana. Illinois can’t be sleepwalking after a good week zero victory.
Illinois vs. UTSA odds for week one
With a big win this past Saturday, Illinois will surely be giving points when it comes to the spread. But, as of right now, WynnBET doesn’t have the spread up for the game. I assume this is due to the uncertainty in regards to the health of Illini starting quarterback, Brandon Peters.
This article will be updated once the lines are updated, but the Illini are -235 on the moneyline. You can’t bet it yet because the moneyline is locked as of right now. So, if you want to take the moneyline at -235 and bet $100, you win $42.55.
The over/under line has yet to be set as well. I would venture to say all of the lines will be updated by the end of the day on Monday.
Illinois injury report vs. UTSA for week 1
The injury bug bit the Illini a little bit this past weekend. Illinois quarterback, Brandon Peters, went out of the game early with an apparent shoulder injury. He never returned under center against Nebraska. I am guessing he is out for the UTSA game as well. Linebacker Calvin Hart Jr. also left the game with an injury. More news on both of these players will be out early in the week.
Illinois vs. UTSA prediction for week 1
With the betting lines a little off right now due to so many questions about injuries, it is hard to determine which way to go on the bets.
The moneyline of -235 isn’t worth the squeeze right now. You would have to invest way too much money to get a solid return. UTSA went to a bowl game last season, so they aren’t a pushover program. I believe Illinois will win the game, but it isn’t worth the gamble at this point.
My guess is that Illinois will open at -7-ish to start the week. This number will probably hover around that up until game time.
Illinois next game and schedule
UTSA will be a tough matchup for Illinois this weekend, but the schedule gets even tougher after the Roadrunners.
After what is hopefully a win over UTSA, the Illini will then head to the east coast to take on Virginia at 10:00 AM CST on the ACC Network.
