Illinois basketball has a great start to their 2022 class, and they look to add more in the coming months.

As of right now, the Illini have two committed players for 2022. Jayden Epps is the highest-rated recruit checking in at No. 58 in the nation. He is joined by a superstar out of Ohio in Sencire Harris who is the No. 94 player in the class of 2022. Illinois continues to make a push for a few other big-time targets as well.

It was reported on Monday that the Illini are having a trio of visitors on campus this week. Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers is reporting that Cam Whitmore, Cameron Corhen, and Otego Oweh are all coming to Champaign to check out what Illinois has to offer. These are three huge targets for the Orange and Blue.

What would each recruit mean to the Illinois basketball program?

First off, Illinois needs a big man and Corhen could be that option. He checks in at 6-foot-9, 205-pounds and is the No. 110 recruit in the class of 2022.

Corhen’s commitment would mean stability for the Illinois frontcourt. You can’t rely on what we have at the No. 5 spot for the future. There are zero certainties on what the Illini will look like in the paint. If Corhen picks the Illini, then we have a solid big man who can lead this team around the rim.

Whitmore would be a great addition to the wing for the Illini. While we have some solid depth out there already, Whitmore brings another level of talent to the floor.

I could realistically see Whitmore transition to the No. 4 spot with how much talent Illinois is going to have. When you have a player like Whitmore – four-star and ranked No. 51 in the class of 2022 – you do whatever you can to get him into the program. This kid is a game-changer.

Oweh is a new-ish name in the mix. It is exciting that he has enough interest in the Illini to want to take a visit. That means we have a shot at landing him.

I like Oweh’s game, and he would give Illinois more dynamic scoring at the No. 2 or No. 3 spots on the floor. Illinois already has a tremendous amount of shooting talent, but I would always welcome another top 100 recruit to the roster. The Illini would find a spot for this kid.

Overall, there are three big-time recruits coming to Champaign this week. If Illinois can land one of the three, then the class of 2022 could end up being in the top 10 nationally. It would also be a national title contending haul.
