7. Season Total Rebounds

The dominance of Kofi Cockburn has been shown the most through his ability to rebound the basketball. In 2020-21, he was able to finish with a total of 293 rebounds. This big number put him No. 9 in single-season rebounds.  He is just ahead of two Illini greats in Nick Anderson and Don Freeman who both check-in with 285 rebounds in a season.

8. Career Total Rebounds

Kofi’s single-season numbers have been impressive and have landed him in the top 10 in Illinois history. Duplicating those numbers this season will launch the big man up the career rebounding list as well.

If Kofi can pull down another 293 rebounds for the 2021-22 campaign, he will finish his career with a total of 858 rebounds. Hitting that number would put Kofi in some rarified air. He would end up ranked No. 3 all-time in career rebounds. The only two ahead of Kofi would be James Augustine and Mike Davis.

9. Career Average Rebounds

Sustained rebounding success is hard to accomplish. Kofi has been able to be consistent on the boards since joining the Illinois basketball program. This past season alone, he averaged 9.5 rebounds per contest.

If Kofi can put up the same exact numbers this season as he did last season, then the star center would finish his career averaging 9.2 rebounds per game. That is an incredible number and one that would put him No. 7 all-time in career rebounding average. Everyone ahead of him played prior to 1974.
