No. 3 Guard

Starter: Alfonso Plummer

Illinois is littered with talented transfers from the past few years. One of the best transfers the program has ever landed is Alfonso Plummer from Utah. Plummer put up double-digit scoring numbers with the Utes and is now trying to do something special with the Illini.

In his lone season with the Orange and Blue, I expect Plummer to start at the No. 3 guard spot. He isn’t coming to Champaign to ride the pine. This kid is a dangerous scorer and could end up being one of the top two players on the team in point production. Look for Plummer to have a big year.

Backup: Da’Monte Williams

The depth on the Illinois basketball roster is phenomenal this season. Thankfully, we have players like Da’Monte Williams returning to help this team get back to the promised land. I have Williams coming back and manning his old role as a primary backup. He is essentially a sixth-man on the Illinois roster for the upcoming season. I have Williams backing up Plummer at the No. 3 guard spot.

Backup: Luke Goode

Coming into the Illinois program, I have the entire class of 2021 having the same path. This includes Luke Goode who is coming in as one of the best shooters we have seen in a while. Goode should get somewhere in the ballpark of 10 minutes per game. Look for him to start his development as a backup at the No. 3 spot. The 2022-23 season is where we will need Goode the most.
