Illinois basketball is spanning the United States to try to build out their roster for the future.

I have been impressed with Brad Underwood and his coaching staff’s abilities to snag players from parts of the Midwest that had previously been unknown for the Illini. Underwood is now trying to span his reaches back out to California where he is targeting a new name in Dusty Stromer.

Stromer is a 6-foot-6, 180-pound shooting guard from Notre Dame High School and resides in Sherman Oaks, California. He isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, but Stromer has numerous scholarship offers on the books. Some of the bigger programs to come in with an offer to the 2023 guard include the likes of Louisville, USC and Texas A&M.

While Stromer isn’t rated or ranked right now, don’t be shocked to see him start shooting up the national recruiting charts. By the end of his recruitment, Stromer will be somewhere in the top 100.

Illinois basketball has the perfect style to fit what Stromer brings to the court.

I love what Stromer does with the basketball. He has the ability to play multiple roles on the court, and his game is sneaky smooth.

The Illini truly have the perfect style of play to fit Stromer’s game. Illinois likes to move the ball up and down the court. There isn’t a lot of isolation basketball going on. This is exactly what Stromer needs.

Stromer can play some iso, but he seems to be more about motion and creating shots either for himself or for others through movement.

As far as your typical basketball skills go, Stromer checks all of the boxes. He has a shot that is going to kill other teams. The ability to hit shots from anywhere on the court is there for Stromer. He has an incredibly smooth touch with the basketball.

The effort is there with Stromer as well. Sometimes at the AAU level, you see selfish basketball. That isn’t the case with Stromer. He puts in 110-percent and it shows on the court. That will win over his coaches and teammates at the next level.

Next. Kevin Obanor would make Illini a strong title contender. dark

I love this offer by Illinois. Stromer is someone who can help the Orange and Blue down the road. Let’s see how he develops in the next year or so, and hopefully, we can bring him to Champaign.
